Dr. Mei Jen Weng is a licensed acupuncturist, oriental medicine doctor and Ph.D. She has treated people on Amma's tours throughout Europe, Australia, Japan, and the United States.  She is a graduate of Chung Shan Medical College in Taiwan and Yuin University of Chinese Medicine. 
 
 Dr. Weng is not only a highly skilled master, she is a powerful intuitive and energetic healer.  Patients who have received treatment say she is particularly gifted in facilitating the rapid release of buried emotional blocks and past traumas which made them depressed, sad, or chronically ill. Dr. Weng treats both men and women.  Her vision is to "free people". On Fridays we will open morning meditation with an Agni Hotra fire ceremony, in the tradition of Ananda Ashram. The fire ceremony consists of five minutes of Sanskrit prayers while ghee is offered into a contained flame. The flame can be meditated upon to clarify one's focus and bring one into the moment. The Agni Hotra is a daily ritual for world peace and has powerful healing effects, including anti-pollution environmentally and mentally. With the air charged we will move into silent meditation

We are all creators that need to look out for one another...

My Friend Sheldon sent this please take the time to read and give if you can...
How many people don't like music? I'd say none. How many people don't listen to music everyday? Maybe 1? Maybe 2? (I don't like them already)!! :) Music is the soundtrack of our lives, but all too often the talented artists that make it are faced with insurmountable financial battles, either due to health related issues, or the volatility of the business. Sweet Relief Musicians Fund was started to help keep our passionate artistic contributers afloat during these times of trouble. They have helped me, and they have helped my friends. (They also recently, as an example of their great work, raised over $100,000 for Richie Hayward of Little Feat when he was battling cancer, a battle he unfortunately lost about a month ago). My goal is to help repay them for their kindness and generosity towards me in the past, and to try to raise funds to fill the coffers that will someday help my friends and colleagues in the music community, and if the cards fall in such a way, they may even be helping me once again.

Please join me in helping out those that give so much to our lives, usually while having a tough go of it themselves. Some musicians make it big and are doing fine, but many are barely getting by, and many more are struggling, to say the least. Health insurance? Good one!! We, (Sweet Relief, myself, and some little helpers), have recently undertaken the monumental task of making the third Sweet Relief CD, Sweet Relief 3, Pennies From Heaven, of which I have the great honor of being a part of. The first two CD's were critically acclaimed, and had a host of great artists, named in the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund information below, so I will try to avoid being redundant by not mentioning them here. What I will mention are some of the artists that are joining us on this one: Ben Harper, Victoria Williams, Rickie Lee Jones, She & Him, kd lang, Sam Phillips, Ron Sexsmith, Michael Penn and Aimee Mann, Shelby Lynne, The Living Sisters, Joseph Arthur, Angela McCluskey and Tina Schlieske of Tina and the B-Sides. There are more 'special guests' coming along, too. Stay tuned for details!!

There is also a documentary being shot of 'The Making Of...,' directed by Gandulf Henning, who also directed 'Gram Parsons Fallen Angel,' and 'Merle Haggard Learning To Live With Myself.'

We've had some very generous donations, some up to 4 figures, and we're off to a very a good start, but we ain't where we need to be yet. Sweet Relief Musicians Fund information stolen right from Wikipedia: Sweet Relief Musicians Fund is a non-profit charity that maintains a financial fund from which professional musicians can draw from when in need of medical care or financial needs. Initially intended as a one-time CD launch benefit for Victoria Williams, Sweet Relief has evolved into a charity organization that relies on donations from artists and the public as a general fund to all professional musicians in need. The fund provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling with their finances while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems.

The organization was started after musician and singer Victoria Williams fell ill with multiple sclerosis in 1993 and had no way to pay for her own overwhelming medical expenses. Money was raised to help her via benefit concerts and the release of a CD Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams, which was performed by other musical artists including Lou Reed and Pearl Jam.

A second CD titled Sweet Relief II: Gravity of the Situation was released in 1996. All of the proceeds went toward Sweet Relief Musicians Fund to aid the organization. A variety of alternative rock artists volunteered their time to perform a variety of songs from Vic Chesnutt. Some well-known artists including Garbage, R.E.M., Hootie and the Blowfish, The Smashing Pumpkins, Joe Henry and Madonna performed for the CD.

The AD Show was an amazing success! People where shockingly stunned by the new designs of Patrick Weder!!I have to say so was I...I spent 4 lovely days with some of the top designers/artists and enough inspiration to last for many years to come.
Thanks to all my new friends I really look forward to working next year's show!

Patrick's work turned many heads and the buzz is out a new kid has stepped up to plate.Although this was Weder's first major trade show,high- end clients have been secretly collecting his work for years. Thinking about staying in the moment...

Its been a long time since I just sat down and wrote what's on my mind. Really time has been flying by and the days although sweetly interesting have also been challenging. I love when Pema Chodron talks about loving life both sweet and sour. This line really gives you something real to work with . The big message is to not become attached to either. Life is both and welcome it all and be in the moment. I wish it was so easy. That is why we have Reiki,acupuncture,Cranio Sacral,Massage ,Zero Balancing and all other Body-energy-work

I know I have the awesome ability to slip out of balance and hold on to the questions and emotions. The ride is always different depending on the planets,stars and my husband...
The things that gets me out of the spiral are: Counting the breath (ie flight or flight ),listen to Amma chanting or other music,open a book read/write,think of all that I'm thankful for and basically remind myself not to stay to long. Its hard!! sometimes I want to swim far out in these murky waters I have traveled so often its somehow comforting. I'm sure some of you can relate but the staying to long is the part that gets us into trouble. Touch it lightly,Pema would say...the staying is with the breath ...in the moment

Pumkin Pie no sugar added...

Agave Pumpkin Pie Recipes
1 crust
3 eggs
1/4 cup of raw (dark)agave
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
pinch of ground clove
2 cups of fresh cooked pumpkin
2 cups of organic half-and-half

Preparing the pumpkin:
Cook pumpkin day before or 2-4hrs before put in fridge
Cut the "sweet" pumkin in 1/2
take seeds out w/spoon
lay on a cookie sheet shell rounded side facing up pulp down,
roast @400 for 45-60min or until completely soft all around.
scoop 2 cups,use hand blend or blender to puree
OK IF YOU Want to use organic canned pumpkin just, don't tell me...hehe

Making the Crust
1 1/8 cups of whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 teaspoons (1 stick) cold unsalted butter
cut into 8 pieces
4 tablespoons ice water,+ more if necessary

Combine flour ,salt and sift
add butter, I use my hands to break up the butter and flower mixture so it looks like cornmeal,if you have a food processor you can use it for about 10 sec
place mixture in a bowl sprinkle the water as needed
(note : whole wheat flour you need a bit more water)
form into a ball ,wrap in plastic,flatten into a small disc
10min freezer or 30min in the fridge
After ,roll on flat surface dust extra flour to avoid sticking
place in favorite pie pan,decorate edges as you like, (optional, freeze 10 min)
make sure to prick the crust with a fork all over before you bake
bake for 10-15 min till golden brown,use foil dry beans or rice as a
weight, prevent crust from rising.
Prepare filling:
Beat the eggs with agave
add spices and salt,stir in cool pumpkin puree than half-&-half
put in a med sauce pan on stove med-low flame ,
stir occasionally ,till hot to touch
do not boil,if you want it a little sweeter add more agave
while warming or when you serve it.
Add mixture to still hot pre baked pie shell
Bake @375 for 30-40 min cover crust edges with tin foil.
Serve with fresh whipped cream!YUMMMMM!!!!!

You can substitute some ingredients use earth Balance butter substitute for crust
If you can't eat wheat use rice flour they have a good crust recipe on the bag
please use organic ,butter,milk, eggs or free range eggs if you can
NO sugar or sugar chemical substitutes use AGAVE its natural and taste good!
you can use a table spoon of maple syrup as well but only if you are not a diabetic.
This is a diabetic friendly desert ....it is possible make great desserts without sugar...

“In the three months of autumn all things in nature reach their full maturity. The grains ripen and harvesting occurs. The heavenly energy cools, as does the weather. The wind begins to stir. This is the changing or pivoting point when the yang, or active, phase turns into its opposite, the yin, or passive, phase. One should retire with the sunset and arise with the dawn. Just as the weather in autumn turns harsh, so does the emotional climate. It is therefore important to remain calm and peaceful, refraining from depression so that one can make the transition to winter smoothly. This is the time to gather one’s spirit and energy, be more focused, and not allow desires to run wild. One must keep the lung energy free full, clean, and quiet. A Time of Reflection

Fall is the season associated with the metal element. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the metal element governs the mind, organization, order, and stability. We tend to be more reflective, turning inward to our work, our families and our homes during this time. It is a time to organize and prepare for the winter season ahead and a time to reflect on our lives.

Emotionally, this is the season associated with grief and sadness. It is important to keep the mind clear and “let go” of negative emotions, which can impact health more strongly during the fall.

Lungs and Large Intestine

Fall corresponds to the lungs, skin, and large intestine. The lungs and large intestine are in charge of respiration, digestion, and elimination. Common symptoms associated with lung and large intestine imbalances are respiratory problems, such as asthma, shortness of breath, frequent colds, and sinus infections, as well as constipation and skin problems.

The body is particularly susceptible to wind and cold during the fall. Dryness can cause symptoms of coughing, dry nose, sore throat, dry skin, dry hair and scalp, dry mouth and cracked lips, and hard and dry stools. Adding more nourishing yin foods to your diet can promote body fluid, soothe the lungs and protect you from dryness.

Eating with the season

In the fall, eat fewer cold, uncooked foods — such as salads — and more warm, cooked foods. Switch from salads to soups and steamed vegetables such as winter squash, winter peas, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and yams. Incorporate yellow and red foods into your meals. Start your day with hot oatmeal.

Protecting Your Lung Qi
Lung 7 is one of the most powerful points on the lung meridian points. It is a popular acupuncture point to use for stopping a persistent cough and relieving a sore throat. Besides treating those symptoms, LU 7 is often used to treat conditions related to the head and neck, such as headaches, migraines, stiff neck, facial paralysis, and toothache.

LU 7 is considered to be the “command point” of the head and neck and is also used to improve circulation in the brain and stimulate memory.

This acupuncture point is located above the wrist on the inside of the arm. To find this point, interlock your thumb and index finger of one hand with those of the other, the point lies on the edge of the index finger, in a depression between the sinew and the bone.

Stimulate this point on both hands with the tip of your index finger for approximately 30 seconds or until your cough subsides.

Every year ,If the universe allows, I go see a movie for my birthday. I love going to the theater alone there is something sacred of falling deep into a story and using those god given senses a goon run. This year it was "Bright Star" a poem and a love story of John Keats. I won't say much but the whole experience was lovely!! I believe that my heart opened that door to let me feel out certain experience in the past that still lie dormit ready to heal. So This is why I love movies so much!! I feel there is a form of healing here that touches corners we forget that exist . To let emotions rise and release is the same practice of most healing modalities... At some point a movie therapy class may be just what the heart ordered... Be inspired ...

I am very excited to collaborate with the lovely folks at Heartland, a retreat center upstate. Next weekend, September 18th -20th there will be a yoga retreat with Paul Manza and Julianna Takacs. I will be giving body, energy and breathwork treatments when you are not downward dogging. The retreat is $225 for the weekend and includes all meals and accomodations. I am happy to announce that Dr. Weng will be returning to Brooklyn September 21st through the 24th. We are so blessed to have her here, if you have not had a treatment from her, I can't recommend them enough!

Dr. Mei Jen Weng is a licensed acupuncturist, oriental medicine doctor and Ph.D. She has treated people on Amma's tours throughout Europe, Australia, Japan, and the United States. She is a graduate of Chung Shan Medical College in Taiwan and Yuin University of Chinese Medicine.

Since it is retrograde I thought I would post a picture from about 2 years ago. This was an interesting time for me. This is the moment it all started to change for me in my work, my relationship ,everything. In retrograde we get a chance to slow down and address where we were and where we are. Letting go of the past a little more each time and become an observer .
I recently lost a very special person in my life and I have had a hard time writing my blog. I apologize it took so long... In this time of retrograde breathe deep and just be present. Just like life it will pass soon be in the now and you can truly experience life to the fullest ...

yesterday I went to the Library to explore the sacred space for books and dive into a place that has been long forgotten by many.( Me included) I'm glad I did!! there are so many surprises and discoveries to be had...thanks Ron for reminding me subconsciously in California.
Of course I rented 5 video's...walked pass the familiar habit and moved on to the books. wow! I totally have been missing out on this energy of knowledge. You can not get this energy in front of your computer. The feeling,the smell of books, each one holding something for you to open and experience. I was a bit lost since this place felt so different and the appreciation so much greater. What a sanctuary and why did I stop going?

My Book choice this time around was Plant power and Everything you need to know about physics. I picked up Plant power and the first thing I read was this quote from one of my all time favorite writers Anais Nin. This alone was a perfect quote ,for a perfect trip to a perfect place. thank you Library ...
